Alex Anderson scored three touchdowns and Garrett Whipple added two as New Underwood downed Kadoka, 32-14, in the season opener for both teams Friday.
Whipple opened the scoring by getting into the end zone twice in the first quarter. His first score came on a 17-yard run, and that was followed up by a 31-yard scamper to put the Tigers up 14-0 after one quarter.
Kadoka would narrow the gap to eight points when Colter Stout found Kenar VanderMay for a 17-yard pitch-and-catch before halftime. Vandermay would score again to open up the second half finding the end zone from 21 yards out.
New Underwood would respond with the final three scores as Anderson hauled in a 15-yard scoring strike and ran for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Whipple ended the night with 129 yards on the ground and Anderson had 102. Whipple added 12 tackles on defense for the Tigers, while the Kougars were led by Chance Knutson’s 13.
CROW CREEK 12, CHEYENNE-EAGLE BUTTE 8: Crow Creek scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to down Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, 12-8, on Friday.
Keenan World Turner returned a kickoff 80 yards to pull his team within two points and with seven minutes to go in the quarter, Vilas Fallis Jr. found Roger Bishop for a 2-yard touchdown pass.
C-EB scored on a Cody Neigel 2-yard strike to Malcom Guest, and the defense recorded a safety.
Crow Creek is now 1-1 on the season, while the Braves fall to 0-1.
